Established in 2020. Hive Drums is an independent drum building company creating unique, bespoke drums from our workshop in the heart of the Surrey Hills.
WHAT WE MAKE
We design and build bespoke aluminium snare drums from our small workshop in Surrey. We build our shells with 3mm thick aluminium as we feel it delivers excellent dynamic range and sensitivity. A variety of highly durable powder-coat finishes are available and we can produce a range of sizes.

WHO WE ARE
Jon & Matt
Hive Drums is an independent drum company based in the Surrey Hills. Co-founded by Jon Bleasby-Voice and Matt Taylerson, we established our company in 2020 and built our first working prototype by the end of that year.
We’ve been friends for over 20 years and are both engineers by trade. We share a passion for music and playing drums, and over years of conversations standing at the bar during gigs, an idea was born to build a metal snare drum “like no other”. This drum would serve the working drummer with a lifetime of reliability, durability and most importantly great sound.
Many prototypes were built, and with the help of some well-respected friends in the drumming community, thoroughly tested. Spurred on by the positive feedback and support we received, we proudly debuted our first snare ‘The Worker’ at the UK Drum Show in April 2022. We have many ideas for future designs and look forward to sharing our progress with you soon!
